A little about me

Growing up in Charleston, summers meant I was always either outdoors - boating on the water, building sandcastles at the beach, running around the woods, riding bikes with kids in the neighborhood, fishing in the pond next door, attempting handstands in the pool...or I was channeling my inner nerd, curled up indoors for hours on end, reading a novel or biography of someone I looked up to. Year-round, we kept a family tradition of gathering for lunch at my Meemaw's house every Sunday after church, where she was (and still is) famous for her southern cooking (think broccoli, squash, sweet potato casserole, mac & cheese, bbq spare ribs, pork tenderloin, sweet tea...yum). These core parts of my childhood instilled a deep love of Charleston's rich beauty & waterways, family & community gatherings, meals spent giggling around the table, and letting my imagination run wild in the pages of books. My family was diligent in documenting memories, from the everyday moments, to professional photos. Between boxes of old home videos featuring mine & my parents' childhoods, loose prints & family photo albums galore, and stories of loved ones growing up in the lowcountry, I've always wanted to continue that legacy of history-telling. As a kid in the days of film, and eventually, the rise of the digital age, I began to take up the mantle of being the photojournalist of the family, which led to dreams of becoming a professional photographer.
